Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.

West Herr Subaru Shares the Love with Open Door Mission! We presented our hometown charity with a check for over 34,000 dollars! Open Door is a non-profit Christian Rescue Mission founded to provide for the spiritual and physical needs of the impoverished and homeless men, women and children of Rochester, NY by restoring hope and changing lives. Their team graciously showed us around and we learned all about the organization and how these funds will be used to assist those in need. A special thank you to our Subaru customers who purchased, leased, and serviced with us throughout this event. Your support makes this possible and we are so proud to be a part of the Rochester community!
To show how thankful we are for the support of our community, we wanted to give back to those who need it most. With the assistance of our loyal customer and employees, West Herr Subaru of Rochester was able to contribute to filling over 5,000 bags with Thanksgiving Day essentials for families across Western New York as part of our Turkey Drive for 2025. We are more than a car dealer...we are a proud Subaru Retailer.
On October 4th, West Herr Subaru of Rochester hosted some furry friends from Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions. It was a HOWLING good time full of dog inquiries, Trunk or Treats, Halloween costumes, and Fall photos. Eash rescued pet that comes into Rescued Treasures has been saved from a kill shelter or an owner who could no longer care for them. Rescued Treasures takes the time to get each pet fully vetted to ensure good health. The pet is then placed with a loving foster family to train and get them ready for their Furever family. West Herr Subaru is proud to support this organization throughout the year but especially during Subaru Loves Pets Month. Along with Subaru, West Herr awarded Rescued Treasures with a 6000 dollar grant and New Parent Pet Kits to help support their mission.
(September 16, 2025) Flower City School No. 54 is celebrating a meaningful partnership with West Herr Subaru of Greece, which has generously donated supplies and provided funding to support the school's classrooms. As part of the Subaru Loves Learning program, representatives from the dealership delivered supplies directly to students and surprised six classrooms with $500 each to purchase additional resources. Donations included crayons, markers, dry-erase markers, cleaning wipes, glue sticks, Post-it Notes, pencils, and whiteboard erasers, all tools to help students and teachers thrive in the classroom. “A lot of us from different stores love giving to the community, and we just wanted to share some joy,” said Jules Scofeile of West Herr Subaru in Greece. The Subaru Loves Learning program has supported more than 950,000 students nationwide, and School No. 54 is proud to be part of this effort to uplift schools and strengthen communities.
On June 17, West Herr Subaru of Rochester joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Eastern Great Lakes Region in a special visit to Lipson Cancer Institute at Rochester General Hospital as part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. Together, we had the privilege of donating 80 cozy blankets to patients currently undergoing treatment for blood cancer. Each blanket, accompanied by messages of hope from Subaru customers and staff, was a heartfelt reminder to patients that they are not alone in their fight. This meaningful gesture reflects the ongoing partnership between Subaru and LLS, united in their mission to bring comfort, care, and support to those affected by cancer. We are deeply grateful to West Herr Subaru of Rochester for their generosity and compassion—and to the incredible staff at Lipson Cancer Institute for the tireless care they provide every day. Thank you for helping us deliver warmth, hope, and healing—one blanket at a time.
Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Rochester, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why West Herr Subaru of Rochester is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like West Herr Subaru of Rochester have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/20/2025, West Herr Subaru of Rochester donated 120 coats to YMCA of Greater Rochester - Northwest Family Branch. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
West Herr Subaru of Rochester held their first annual Santa Paws. Customers and members of the community along with their 4-legged friends were invited check out our beautiful new dealership and get their photos with the most popular guy this time of year, Santa! Guests were entered to win an autographed Josh Allen football, and each pup received a holiday bandana and goodie bag! Proceeds and a special store donation was made benefiting Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions in Rochester, NY. See everyone next December!
This Thanksgiving season, we were proud to host a food drive at our West Herr Subaru Rochester location to help families in need enjoy a warm and nourishing holiday meal. West Herr donated $100,000 worth of turkeys to support Western New York families while our store enthusiastically joined the effort by collecting non-perishable food items to complete the holiday meal. To show our gratitude to those who participated, we added an extra layer of excitement to the drive: every individual who donated a non-perishable food item at one of our stores was entered to win one of five autographed jerseys from our own Team West Herr member, Josh Allen. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, employees, and partners, we were able to provide hundreds of families with a memorable holiday meal.
On October 29th, West Herr Subaru Rochester hosted a Subaru Loves Pets event in partnership with Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions, a local organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pets. The event brought together community members and animal lovers for a day of celebration and connection. Families had the opportunity to meet adoptable pets and learn about Rescued Treasures' incredible work in the Rochester area. In addition to supporting the adoption event, Subaru of America and West Herr Subaru of Rochester partnered to make a $4,000 donation to Rescued Treasures. This contribution will help the organization continue its mission of helping more vulnerable animals find new homes.
This year, West Herr Brockport Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Lipson Cancer Institute thru Subaru Loves to Care initiative. The partnership has involved delivery of blankets and messages of HOPE to cancer patients. This summer, Subaru delivered these items for cancer patients in treatment and we are forever grateful for this partnership.
West Herr Subaru Brockport recently served as collection site benefiting The Community Food Cupboard of Rochester. Our team members, along with the local community came together to fundraise, collect and deliver some of the daily goods that many take for granted but some desperately need. Peanut Butter, cereal, household cleaning items, and feminine care products are just some of the items requested, and the organization's volunteers are looking forward to the continued support of West Herr Subaru. This community commitment is what makes us proud!
West Herr Subaru of Brockport along with Subaru was proud to help make a special delivery to Unity Hospital in Rochester, New York during the Subaru Loves to Help initiative. Our team provided blankets to be distributed throughout the Unity network, patients at the Lipson Cancer Center, Transital Care Center and their nursing homes. Marianne Coleman, Director of Hospital Operations, relayed how patients remember the generosity West Herr and Subaru has shown in past donations and were looking forward to their new blankets! These not only provide warmth but more importantly show patients they are not alone on their journey...they have members of the West Herr Subaru family praying for their health and recovery. It's what makes us so much more than just a car dealer, we are a community partner!
West Herr Subaru of Brockport is pairing up with the National Fire Safety Council to assist with teaching children and the community vital fire safety and burn prevention! This donation helps our local firefighters, parents, and their children!
Thank you for the donation of $26,462.50 to support the Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf. Our guests are able to choose their own food including personal care items, meats, vegetables, grains, dairy, cereals, and breads due to this generous donation. We would not be able to provide these services to the Brockport community without the support of West Herr Subaru of Brockport and Subaru Love Promise.
West Herr Subaru of Brockport was generous in donating to Challenge 22 created by The American Legion. The program brings awareness to the suicide rate of our active service personnel and veterans. With the help of Subaru we will continue to work towards a goal of reducing suicides from 22 deaths a day to zero. Thank you for helping us get closer to our goals and making sure that our veterans know that we support them.
February 2023 Monday was a special day as we donated a 12-passenger transit van to the amazing folks at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester! The van will allow Club staff to increase the amount of transportation necessary for young people to safely get to various programs, field trips and more. In addition, the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library agreed to foster the Club's literacy program by filling its shelves with over 200 books. The donated books were delivered to the Club in the new donated van.
Our experience was excellent! We were very upset on the Thruway when the tire blew and then trying to contact service centers was a problem. My son-in-law looked up the nearest Subaru dealer and the rest is history. You, Michelle, Greg could not have been more efficient or nicer. (The lattes were also great!) Please convey my thanks to all and the technician who worked so hard to get us out and on our way. My daughter could not believe we were able to leave your place at 4:30. We arrived at their house 9:30 tired and frazzled but in fairly good shape. Everyone who has heard about the "blown tire on the thruway" story have been amazed at how lucky we were to find such a helpful, warm, and friendly place for repairs. We hope you are all well and will have some much-needed time off to relax and spend time with loved ones. Thanks again!
The West Herr Subaru of Brockport team was grateful to be able to host the PAWS Animal Shelter of Albion for a second adoption event in the showroom! Through posts on Facebook and a lot of outreach done by their staff, four adorable rescues left their mark on the hearts of every employee and every visitor that came to the event. The showroom was filled with joy as Mason, a black and white mixed breed pup jumped around in his Christmas PJs. The pandemic made it extremely difficult to get rescues adopted due to the limited resources and visitation. The Subaru Team was extremely grateful to be able to collect a trunk-full of donation items ranging from laundry detergent to chew toys for the precious fur babies. Both Subaru and PAWS were amazed when 58 Main restaurant chose to sponsor the event and made a generous raffle donation: a brand new 55” flat screen TV. Many thanks to West Herr Subaru and the Brockport community for coming together for a great cause!
The A D Oliver Middle School of Brockport was thrilled to partner with West Herr Subaru Brockport for the 2022 school year! With the amazing help of the Subaru team, various school supplies were donated and distributed to the middle school students. With so many existing and new paths for children to take these days, being able to provide them with the essentials of education is more crucial than ever. Because of the amazing relationship with the Subaru Brockport team, middle schoolers were provided pens, pencils, notebooks, and various other important items to be able to get the most out of their education. The Subaru store is extremely grateful to be able to donate school supplies throughout the year to meet and exceed the needs of every eager student at A D Oliver Middle School and help create a better future for our community!
Through our partnership with West Herr Subaru of Brockport, we hosted a month long adoption event during October 2022. We were able to find homes for 22 of our homeless pets during this event. One very special adoption was involving a 3-legged pup named Lucille. Lucille was found on the streets with three puppies and a horrible leg injury. She was immediately taken to the local veterinarian and was given high dose of pain meds and started on antibiotics. Heartworm tests indicated that she was also High Heartworm Positive. The ride to the vet was very difficult for the coordinator because the smell coming from her injury was horrid with rotting flesh and bone hanging from her leg, and Lucille was also uncomfortable. We are unsure as to how this injury happened and if it was done by a person or if something became wrapped around her foot. We think she may have chewed her foot off trying to get loose from whatever it was. The vet performed surgery to remove what was left of her leg, which had bone and ligaments protruding out of her skin. After emergency surgery Lucille began treatment for heartworm. With the leg amputation and high heartworm positive diagnosis she was not out of the woods yet. Lucille was able to recover from surgery and start her healing and heartworm treatment in a foster home. Her puppies were also placed into a foster home until they were weaned from bottle feeding, and also treated for a nasty skin infection, and ready for adoption into loving homes. Lucille was given the A.O.K. from our vet to find her the best home. A dog with three legs, or any animal with a disability typically takes longer to adopt simply because of the responsibility and commitment involved, so we knew we had a challenging situation ahead of us. Thanks to our wonderful supporters, veterinarians and staff, and our pairing with West Herr Subaru of Brockport, we were able to find the absolute best home for Lucille, who was adopted on October 4th, 2022 !!!
